Our Philosophy and Mission

Originally founded by the Abraham family, the Alexander Abraham Foundation has redefined itself as not-for-profit organization with an environmental and conservation focus under the leadership of President Nancy Abraham. AAF is dedicated to conserving the environment and to defending indigenous wildlife with an emphasis on protection of endangered species.

The AAF pursues its mission at the local level by establishing relationships with partner organizations that work in the field and on the ground in Central Africa, and in Asia. By pursuing projects like these, AAF aims to build the capacity of its partners and promote their long-term sustainability.

GRASSROOT: The AAF attempts to works with the local communities believing that conservation will only succeed with their support and involvement. AAF supports, This implication becomes even more crucial when it comes to countries where natural resources are an essential component of its development. projects at a grassroots level and encourages local businesses and initiatives related to sustainable use of natural resources.

COOPERATION: AAF helps non-profits find support for their project and fosters collaboration among the NGO working on the ground. AAF stays involved in the projects at all levels and provides advice when appropriate.

LONG TERM: AAF aims to support projects in the long term in order to ensure that they will build their capacity and be successful in the long term.

FLEXIBILITY: Through a flexible grant application and reporting process, AAF aims to enable innovative projects to take off rapidly with the understanding that alternative sources of income or other sources of support will be

What We Do for Grantees
Beyond providing funding for projects, the Alexander Abraham Foundation provides consulting services for Grantees, including:

  • Finding and fostering fundraising sources
  • Leveraging additional support from AAF partnering organizations, foundations and leaders from the conservation and non-profit worlds
  • Aiding in the application for grants and funds from other groups and governmental organizations
  • Identifying new opportunities related to grantees' core competencies
  • Building capacity so start-up organizations as well as those that have reached a plateau can achieve their next level of development
